Inland PCIe Gen5 SSD costs $350
MicroCenter lists new SSD based on PCIe Gen5 standard.
The new solid-state drive from Inland offers up to 10 GB/s of sequential read speed and up to 9.5 GB/s of write speed. Those are the claims of the company that has just released its first Gen5 SSD which is now available for sale in the US.
Their TD512 SSD is designed as an “Ultimate Gaming Solution”, but there is no explanation what specific gaming features does this drive has. It is now available with 2TB capacity (the only capacity listed thus far) and uses PCIe Gen5 x4 interface. It is a NVMe M.2 2280 form factor drive based on Phison E26 controller.

According to official specs, the drive has the same endurance as older Gen4 model, which is 1400 TBW. The speeds are indeed faster, but more importantly it also has much higher IOPs, reportedly going as high as 1,500,000 and 1,250,000,000 for random 4K read and write, that’s 2.3x and 1.78x more than Gen4 drive.

Design-wise, it features a custom heatsink with a small fan that can be powered by SATA or MOLEX connectors. It looks like the drive has been available for sale for at least a week now and there are, in fact, already some reviews available. Just as expected, the built-in fan is actually quite loud, so proper passive cooling and good airflow is recommended.
The TD510 is now listed at $349.99 at MicroCenter, and it is available for shipping. That’s much pricier than a last-gen drive based on PCIe 4.0 specs which currently costs $145.
