AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D official performance leaks out

HDTecnologia have leaked new data from confidential AMD Ryzen 7000X3D review guide.

What one should know about review guides is that they tend to focus on games that are optimized for specific hardware. This is a reference for reviewers to compare their results in case there are any anomalies. The same data is often used by marketing teams that later convince customers that their hardware is faster, although gaming performance will vary.

The site leaked performance figures from the review guide for the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D model. This is the upcoming Zen4 desktop processors with extended L3 cache. Given what the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with Zen3 has already demonstrated, the expectations are definitely high.

AMD internally tested Ryzen 9 7950X3D against Core i9-13900K with two GPU options, either Radeon RX 7900 XTX or NVIDIA RTX 4090. The new 3D V-Cache CPU is also being compared to the original model without the cache (7950X).

With Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPU, Ryzen 9 7950X3D is 5.6% faster in gaming than Core i9-13900K. This is based on a selection of games at 1080p resolution. Both systems were equipped with 2x16GB DDR5-6000 memory. With the RTX 4090 GPU in play, the gap widens to 6% in favor of Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and up to 16% compared to the 7950X.

The review guide also reveals synthetic benchmark data for the CPU. It appears to confirm Ryzen wins in 7zip, but Intel CPU will still be faster in DolphinBench, Cinebench R23 or Geekbench:

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is launching next week at $699. This is the original price of the 7950X CPU from last year, but AMD’s CPU is now much cheaper (can be found for around $589). Such a small performance gap may not convince gamers to choose Ryzen 9 over Intel Core i9-13900K, which retails at $569 (affiliate link).
