AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D Game Optimizations
AMD discloses new features in the new chipset drivers.
AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processors equipped with 3D V-Cache will automatically optimize performance depending on a workload. The newest chipset driver will be able to dynamically allocate which core is to be used by the Windows operating system. In other words, if the workload is cache-sensitive, the operating system will be modified to prioritize cores with 3D V-Cache. If frequency is more important, cores with higher frequency will be chosen instead.
The company explains that this feature is controlled by the driver, but it can be manually changed in the BIOS. Users will be able to select between ‘cache’ and ‘frequency’ as they might prefer.
Furthermore, AMD confirms that the same drivers will feature PPM Provisioning File Driver. This feature is primarily targeted at gaming workloads, as it will dynamically allocate CCX with 3D V-Cache and park unused CCX without additional cache. Should more threads be needed, the CCX without 3D V-Cache will be enabled as well.

AMD explains that both features will increase performance depending on a workload, but the main purpose of these technologies is to increase gaming performance.
What is important to note is that those are targeted at Ryzen 9 7000X3D CPUs (7950X/7900X) because only these two out of three announced SKUs have asymmetric chiplet design where one CCX has 3D V-Cache while the other does not. This problem does not exist on single chiplet 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D which is set to launch in April.
